Card Game: Siberia Card Game
As usual with dlp games, Siberia comes with a fairly slim 4-page rulebook. However, the strategic and tactical options are quite something. In the first phase, each player plans their own moves, which are then dealt with in turn in the second phase.
The randomly drawn action tiles can be used in different ways. Whether you try to mine resources straight away, or first want to move your workers in Siberia to regions with high resource deposits, get involved in the stock market to achieve higher prices when selling, or focus on long-term investments that allow you to act faster during the course of the game, are the tricky decisions that need to be made in each planning phase. As everyone plays at the same time in this phase, no one has to wait long for the moves of the others.
Once the action tiles have been placed, things become highly interactive in phase 2. If several players are after the same resource and have placed their workers in the corresponding regions, the motto is: first come, first served. However, it is not always advantageous to rush into mining resources too early. If you optimise your company skilfully, send out your salespeople and set the workers in motion, you can end up clearing the field from behind.
Of course, the goal is to have made the most money in the end. It takes around 60 entertaining minutes to get there. The beautiful illustrations by Klemens Franz create the right Siberian atmosphere.
